Octoberman Chooses August For New Album Unveiling

Former Kids These Days member Marc Morrissette travelled around Asia and Europe to inspire his first album as Octoberman, 2005's These Trails Are Old And New, and now he's made a Run From Safety.
The Vancouver singer/songwriter/guitarist recorded the album, slated for an Aug. 21 release via White Whale, in three local studios (Mushroom, Hipposonic and Experience Sound) with co-producer and engineer James Henderson between March and August last year. Morrissette was joined by his regular backing band — drummer Rob Josephson, bassist Graham Christofferson, singer Leah Abramson and guitarist/vocalist C.L. McLaughlin — as well as guests Peter Doig (guitar), Shaun Brodie (trumpet), Kris Hooper (lap steel), Jason Starnes (keyboards), Brian Chan (cello), Mike Morrissette (vocals) and Ryder Havdale (vocals).
The title track lead single, "Elbow Room," "By The Wayside" and "Cisco Kid" can be previewed on Octoberman's MySpace page.
After mastering Run From Safety, Morrissette quit his job and toured Europe and the U.S. He has a Canadian tour lined up for the fall, and you can see Octoberman and labelmates The Mohawk Lodge here:
