Derek Whibley Does Something Besides Enjoying Life As Avril's Husband

Hey guys, remember Sum 41? They were this punk band from Ajax, Ont. who we put on the cover a bunch of times. Maybe you remember them as that band whose guitarist left last year to play metal. It may surprise you to know that our website gets the most hits when we mention the lead singer's name in conjunction with his wife's. Anyway, the pop-punk (emphasis on the pop) threesome have a new record called Underclass Hero out on Tuesday.
Attack In Black were a workmanlike punk group whose word-of-mouth live shows got them a deal on Dine Alone, home of Bedouin Soundclash and City And Colour. Then they scaled back the punk and turned into a snottier version of the Constantines. And you know what? We have no problem with that. Their full-length debut, Marriage, is out this week. They'll celebrate with a free show at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern, aided by super-secret Dine Alone-related guests. I'm guessing that one's going to be a bit tough to get into, even though it's a free show.
We're officially in the dog days of summer, because the only other band worth mentioning this week are Korn. Their new album is untitled. That's all we have to say about that. (OK, maybe that's not all. How long do you think it took Korn to come up with that title? A week? Four months? Have they been formulating it since their last record came out? Way to be, guys.)
