The Acorn's Glory Hope Mountain Set For September Release

The Acorn

The Acorn will release their second full-length, Glory Hope Mountain, on Sept. 25 via Paper Bag.

The album is an homage to lead singer Rolf Klausener's mother, Gloria Esperanza Montoya, and is based on interviews recorded with her over nine months last year. Many of the songs deal with the crises she went through in her native Honduras and her move to Montreal in the '70s.

Glory Hope Mountain was recorded in a rented house in the band's hometown of Ottawa with recording engineer Jarrett Bartlett. It features contributions from members of Ohbijou, The Wooden Stars, Fiftymen, Flecton Big Sky and others.

The new disc follows The Acorn's 2004 debut, The Pink Ghosts, and last year's Tin Fist EP.

The group are planning a fall tour in support of Glory Hope Mountain.

Here are the songs on Glory Hope Mountain:

"Hold Your Breath"
"Flood"
"Even While You're Sleeping"
"Crooked Legs"
"Glory"
"Oh Napoleon"
"Low Gravity"
"Sister Margaret"
"Antenna"
"Plateau Ramble"
"Flood Pt. 2"
"Lullaby (Mountain)"
