Yorke About To Release Solo Album; But It's Andy, Not Thom

Andy Yorke may be the brother of Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke, but the musician and member of the group Unbelievable Truth hopes to steal a bit of the spotlight by releasing a new album called Simple later this year.
The single "Rise And Fall" (which was released on iTunes in May), "Twist Of The Knife" and "Found The Road" are available on Yorke's MySpace page.
There's no word on an album release date, but it's expected to be out in either late summer or early fall.
Although Simple is a solo effort, Yorke was assisted on it by former Unbelievable Truth members Nigel Powell, who produced, and Jason Moulster, who played bass. While no track list has been released, other songs reportedly on the album include "Ode To A Friend," "Always By Your Side," "Let It Be True," "One In A Million" and the title cut.
Yorke stopped performing with Unbelievable Truth in 2000 to return to university to study Russian politics and business.
"After years zigzagging between Russia and music, it finally occurred to me that if there are two things in life you want to do, you don't have to choose between them," Yorke says on his official site. "And it was time to have another crack at this music lark."
Yorke is performing a string of European dates this month, but no North American shows have been announced.
Meanwhile, the better known of the Yorke brothers continues working on Radiohead's next studio album.
"Things are quiet here right now," Thom cryptically wrote on the band's website on July 4. "We are unable to explain. Nothing can be revealed. We have not disappeared. Merely become invisible. For a short time. We may be hiding in the woods."
