Live Earth Concerts To Receive Marathon Television Coverage

Red Hot Chili Peppers

There will be no Live Earth concert in Canada this Saturday, so the CTV Media Group will bring eight of the global festivals to Canadians through an unprecedented multi-channel effort.

CTV will carry 28 straight hours of High Definition live coverage of the concerts to promote awareness of the worldwide climate crisis, while more than 60 additional hours will be carried on MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, Bravo! and Star!. While live highlights from around the globe will air on CTV, eight concerts will air simultaneously in their entirety live on the four specialty channels. Live coverage will also be carried by the CHUM radio network.

The longest single program ever broadcast by CTV will begin at 10 p.m. ET on Friday when the first artist takes the stage in Sydney, Australia. The world's largest High Definition concert broadcast will wind down at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday with the conclusion of the final performance at East Rutherford, N.J.'s Giants Stadium.
