Angels & Airwaves To Launch I-Empire In October

Angels & Airwaves

Rock band Angels & Airwaves, fronted by former Blink-182 singer Tom DeLonge, will release their sophomore album in October.

I-Empire follows last year's We Don't Need To Whisper, which was recorded by DeLonge (vocals, guitar), David Kennedy (guitar), Atom Willard (drums) and Ryan Sinn (bass). The band recently parted company with Sinn, who's been replaced by former 30 Seconds To Mars bassist Matt Wachter.

While no track list for the new disc has been revealed, the band recently posted this message on their website:

"While traveling the world, being influenced by the people in it and learning more about ourselves as Angels & Airwaves, we realized that 'Whisper' is not a complete story. So at the end of 2006, we retreated back into the studio to continue defining the way music is experienced, both sonically and visually."

The album title was unveiled on the band's new home page with a snippet of sound most likely from I-Empire and a photograph of someone on a motorcycle. A voice can also be heard stating the following:

"Through the marvels of scientific advance... my voice is coming to you from a satellite circling in outer space... through this unique means I can say to you and to all mankind America's wish for peace on earth... The words 'If I had my own world... I'd build you an empire.'"

Although little is known about the album, the voice on the home page is that of former U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower's Christmas message was one of the first heard around the world from the first orbiting satellite launched on Dec. 18, 1958 from Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Angels & Airwaves will perform at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals in late August in Great Britain, but no other dates have been announced.
