Metric Side Project Bang Lime Releasing Debut

Metric bassist Joshua Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key's Bang Lime project will release their Best Friends In Love debut on Aug. 14 through Last Gang.

(Winstead sings and plays guitar in the band, while Scott-Key stays behind the drum kit. The duo produced the album with assistance from engineer Drew MalamudStars, The Dears) on 24-track analogue tape over the course of two weeks at Sharkbite studio in their hometown of Oakland, Calif.

Winstead and Scott-Key have collaborated on various musical projects since they met in 1991 at the University Of North Texas. They wrote the danceable rock-oriented Best Friends In Love during 18 months of touring with Metric, who are taking a break from recording until they return to the studio to resume work on their next album in the fall.

Winstead and Scott-Key will take advantage of that down time to do a short North American tour in August. Here are Bang Lime's Canadian tour dates:
