Weakerthans Launch Reunion Tour Without Breaking Up

Weakerthans

As the clock slowly ticks down to the time when we'll finally hear a new Weakerthans album, more details have been revealed about the follow-up to 2003's Reconstruction Site.

Reunion Tour will arrive in stores, in CD and LP format, on Sept. 25 via Anti-/Epitaph. The band's fourth album was produced by Ian Blurton and recorded in two sessions — 11 days in March at Winnipeg's Prairie Recording Co. and four days at Toronto's Junkshop in April. Winnipeg artist William Eakin designed the cover.

The 11-song record features "Virtue The Cat Explains Her Departure," a sequel to Reconstruction Site's moving "Plea From A Cat Named Virtue." The band also seemingly give a nod to Canadian sports on two songs: "Tournament Of Hearts" (the name of the Canadian women's curling championship and tourmates the Constantines' most recent album); and "Elegy For Gump Worsley," the late goalie who was the last NHL puck-stopper not to wear a mask.

The Weakerthans played shows in Hamilton, New York City and Asbury Park, New Jersey last week, but have no other dates scheduled.

Here are the songs on Reunion Tour:
"Civil Twilight"
"Hymn Of The Medical Oddity"
"Relative Surplus Value"
"Tournament Of Hearts"
"Virtue The Cat Explains Her Departure"
"Elegy For Gump Worsley"
"Sun In An Empty Room"
"Night Windows"
"Bigfoot!"
"Reunion Tour"
"Utilities"
