Simple Plan To Play On Canada Day... In The Studio

Simple Plan

Montreal pop-punk band Simple Plan will perform on Canada Day, but it will only be in front of a handful of people.

The group has set July 1 as the day they'll enter the studio to do more work on the follow-up to 2004's Still Not Getting Any.

"I'm starting to feel real confident about the record," drummer Chuck Comeau says in a video post on the band's MySpace page last week.

Comeau revealed that the group have three producers chosen for the album, but didn't divulge who they were.

There's no timetable as to when the record will be released, but lead singer Pierre Bouvier said the group will hit the road to support it. "I'm really stoked," Bouvier enthused.

Although the two band members jokingly tossed out possible album titles such as One Night In Paris and It's About Fucking Time, they said they might get fans to take part in a poll of potential titles or submit their own.

Simple Plan will launch weekly video updates, including snippets of new material, once the recording process starts.

The quintet worked with an unnamed producer in late March in Miami, Fla. "All I can tell you is that it's something totally different that we're trying out," Bouvier said.
