New Releases: QOTSA And Not Much Else

Queens Of The Stone Age

Here I was expecting June to be a banner month, but really there's only been a few big names so far. Sure, June 26 is going to be a big day, but every other Tuesday in the month has featured one big title and an epic pile of also-rans.

This Tuesday's show horse is Queens Of The Stone Age's Era Vulgaris. The album, produced over much of the last year-and-a-half, has a sound that I'm sure many will describe as "thick." Look for cameos from The Strokes' Julian Casablancas (on single "Sick, Sick, Sick") and longtime QOTSA associate Mark Lanegan.

And where do we go from there? Well, there's Sonic Youth's two-disc reissue of Daydream Nation. The new Daydream is also being released in conjunction with the handful of Sonic Youth's 2007 dates where they'll play the songs on the record from start to finish.

And then, hmm. Enrique Iglesias? No... Toby Keith? Definitely not... Screw it, here are this week's other releases. Look for yourself, but there ain't much there:

A PERFECT MURDER War Of Aggression (Victory/KOCH)
CAUTERIZE Disguises (High 4/Fontana North)
JOHN DOE A Year In The Wilderness (Yep Roc/Outside)
DMX The Definition Of X: The Pick Of The Litter (Def Jam/Universal)
STRUNG OUT Blackhawks Over Los Angeles (Fat Wreck/FAB)
KEITH SWEAT Sweat Hotel (Shout/Sony BMG)
WOODEN WAND James & The Quiet (Ecstatic Peace/Universal)
