Dears, New Pornographers And Tegan And Sara Added To Rogers Picnic

While The Roots will headline the July 29 Rogers Picnic at Toronto's historic Fort York, the undercard keeps getting more eclectic.
Bedouin Soundclash, Bad Brains, Little Brother, Apostle Of Hustle and Team Canada DJs were previously announced as support acts, and now The Dears, Tegan And Sara and The New Pornographers have been added to the bill.
The same day that the Pornographers joined the festival, they also revealed that they've signed with Last Gang Records for the Aug. 21 Canadian release of their Challengers album. Group spokesman Carl Newman seemed quite pleased when spilling the beans on the new deal.
"We here in The New Pornographers camp are pleased to announce our new bond with Last Gang Records. From the relentless moustached geometry of DFA 1979's art to the atomic fusion of sex and physics that is Metric, we have come to admire the work of Last Gang, their devotion to giving the public what they should want, their dedication to convincing them that it is what they need. If Last Gang has their way, and they will, you will need us, and you will not know that it was not your choice. We happily accept our invitation into their fold."
REMG Entertainment and Embrace Productions are presenting The Rogers Festival in conjunction with Rogers Wireless. Tickets are $49.50 (plus applicable charges). More details are available at the fest's website.
