Kevin Drew Semi-Solo Album Coming In September

Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew will go solo, kind of, when Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew, Spirit If... arrives in stores on Sept. 18 through Arts & Crafts.
The album, produced by Drew with friends and BSS collaborators Charles Spearin and Ohad Benchetrit (Do Make Say Think), will be the first release in the critically acclaimed collective's promised "Broken Social Scene Presents" series. Each record will showcase a different member and Brendan Canning is presently recording the second disc for release in early 2008.
Arts & Crafts says the album's lyrics deal with Drew's favourite topics: "fucking, fighting, fearing and hope." Spirit If... was recorded in Benchetrit's home studio and features contributions from a number of guests who haven't been named, although Feist disclosed in a recent interview with Billboard.com that she did some vocals for the record.
Fans can expect to see Drew on the road this fall with Canning, Justin Peroff and others when their "Broken Social Scene Performs" touring series kicks off.
