Christian punk-pop trio MxPx are getting back to their roots for their eighth studio album.

Secret Weapon is the band's first disc for their original label, Tooth & Nail, since 1996's Life In General. The group's first producer, Aaron Sprinkle (Pedro The Lion, Anberlin), returned to work with them again on the record, which hits stores on July 17.

Bad Religion guitarist Brian Baker guests on the title track lead single, which can be heard on MxPx's MySpace page. Good Charlotte's Benji Madden contributes vocals to "Tightly Wound." Former Superdrag frontman John Davis adds piano and backing vocals to "Sad Sad Song," and Sugarcult's Tim Pagnotta also makes an appearance.

MxPx formed in Bremerton, Wash. in 1993 when founding members Mike Herrera, Yuri Riley and Andy Husted were still in high school. They recorded three albums for Tooth & Nail before moving on to A&M and then Sideonedummy, before going back to Tooth & Nail early this year.
