Kids Of All Ages Like Feist

Is it an instance of two worlds colliding when the #1 album on the top 50 Canadian campus radio chart is also featured on The Vinyl Cafe? Over the last few years, CBC Radio has been retooling programming to try and attract a younger demographic. But The Vinyl Cafe attracts older listeners in droves. This past week, however, both grandparents and the college crowd are crooning to the sounds of Feist's The Reminder, which rises one place to take over #1.
Frog Eyes' Tears Of The Valedictorian drops from the top to #2. Blonde Redhead's 23 moves up a spot to #3 and Bjork's Volta does likewise to reach #4. Joel Plaskett Emergency's Ashtray Rock drops two places to #5, while Wilco's Sky Blue Sky rises one place to sit at #6. Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare leaps five spots to #7, forcing Miracle Fortress' Five Roses down two places to #8. You Say Party! We Say Die!'s Lose All Time remains at #9 in its 11th week on the chart. The big mover is the #10 album, Battles' Mirrored, which rockets up 30 places.
The Chart Sizzler Award is presented to Shapes And Sizes' Split Lips, Winning Hips, A Shiner, which enters the chart at #17. Immaculate Machine's Fables arrives at #23, one place ahead of Spanish Harlem Orchestra's United We Swing. Other notable new entries include Dungen's Tio Bitar at #29, Stars' Do You Trust Your Friends? at #33 and People For Audio's The New Ancients at #50.
Two specialty charts featured the same #1 as last week: Dimmu Borgir's In Sorte Diaboli on Metal/Punk and Fred Anderson & Hamid Drake's From The River To The Ocean on Jazz/Blues. Chromeo's Fancy Footwork was #1 on the Electronic top 10 the week before last and returns to numero uno this week. Moka Only's Vermillion rises two places to take over the top spot on the Hip-Hop chart in its second week, while the aforementioned Spanish Harlem Orchestra's United We Swing jumps three positions to grab top honours on the World/Jazz countdown.
