Scissors For Lefty Get Underhanded On New Album

Scissors For Lefty

Good-time indie pop band Scissors For Lefty will continue their fixation with five-finger-related names with the June 12 North American release of Underhanded Romance.

The San Francisco sibling group are comprised of singer/guitarist Bryan Garza, bassist Steve Garza, bassist/guitarist Robby Garza (OK, he's an uncle and not a brother), pianist/guitarist Peter Krimmel and drummer James Krimmel (whose mother was a Malaysian pop star in the '60s). The first incarnation of the group began in 2000 and the current lineup has been in place since October.

Bruno was self-recorded and self-released in 2005, and two songs from that disc were redone for the new album, which was recorded at Los Angeles' Sonora Studios by producer/engineer Charles Goodan (Beck, Santana). Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) mixed the record, which will be issued by L.A.'s Eenie Meenie Records.

Underhanded Romance was released in Europe by Rough Trade last fall. Scissors For Lefty have been performing in support of it there as well as gigging in the U.S. to get advance word out about the forthcoming disc. They've played with Arctic Monkeys, Metric, Paul Weller, Panic! At The Disco and a number of other top acts.

There are no Canadian dates scheduled at the moment.

Here are the songs on Underhanded Romance:

"Nickels And Dimes"
"Next To Argyle"
"Lay Down Your Weapons"
"Ghetto Ways"
"Xs Are Forever"
"Wandering Arms"
"Save It Cory"
"Marsha"
"Got Your Moments"
"Mama Your Boys Will Find A Home"
"Brings Us A Brick"
