Scott Stapp Charged With Assault After Domestic Dispute

Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp was a naughty boy again on the weekend.
The 33-year-old was arrested after police responded to a call about a domestic dispute at his $4.9-million U.S. house in Long Lake Estates, Florida on Sunday morning. His wife, former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat, called 911 after she alleged that he threw an orange juice bottle and narrowly missed her face.
Stapp's wife claims that the rocker got home around 8 a.m. after spending the night partying with friends. She asked if he was using drugs and for an explanation why he was stumbling. She said Stapp yelled at her and threw the bottle as she ran and called for help, apparently in fear for her life, according to the police report. Cops were called around 10:30 a.m. and found broken glass and what appeared to be a wet substance on the floor.
Stapp acknowledged throwing the bottle, but said it was aimed at the floor and not his missus.
"The allegations are not accurate," said Stapp's lawyer, Robert Gershman. "He's sad the allegations were lodged."
The husky-voiced singer was originally arrested for felony aggravated assault, but the charge was reduced to misdemeanor assault after he spent a night in county jail. Stapp's release conditions don't allow him to have any contact with his wife and prevent him from entering their home, except to use the recording studio there. He's also required not to take any drugs and to be subjected to random testing.
If found guilty of the charge, the vocalist could spend up to 60 days behind bars.
Stapp has a history of violence, drinking and drug use. A lawsuit was filed against Creed after he acted bizarrely and kept leaving the stage during a 2002 concert. He's alleged to have started a fight with members of 311 in the lobby of a Baltimore, Maryland hotel on American Thanksgiving in 2005. While preparing to catch a flight to Hawaii for his honeymoon with Nesheiwat in early 2006, he was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated at the Los Angeles airport.
Stapp has admitted to using drugs in the past, and he told Rolling Stone that he travelled with a "sobriety coach" while on tour last year.
