Singer/songwriter Emm Gryner will make her first live appearances in western Canada in three years next month.

Gryner will first wrap up a stint in Ireland, where she's hosting Songwriters Week in the town of Drogheda earlier in June. The event is the latest installment in an ongoing love affair between Gryner and the country. She released an album of Irish material called Songs Of Love And Death in 2005 and the country's most famous singer — Bono — has declared an appreciation of her songwriting talents.

Cake Sale — a band comprised of Damien Rice, Josh Ritter and members of Snow Patrol, The Divine Comedy and The Frames — had an Irish hit with their cover of Gryner's "Blackwinged Bird." Gryner's version will soon receive a video treatment by director Stephen Scott.

Gryner and Danny Michel's Under The Covers program will debut on CBC Radio on May 21.

The songstress will record the follow-up to last year's The Summer Of High Hopes album with Canadian producer Greg Wells (Rufus Wainwright, Mika) at his Los Angeles studio this summer.
