Nelly Furtado Wants To Rock Out With Timbaland

Nelly Furtado

Nelly Furtado's collaboration with Timbaland helped her sell five million copies (and counting) of her Loose album to pop and dance music fans around the world. Now she wants to start a rock group with the beatmaking specialist.

"I don't think it'd be like a real rock band," the Canadian songbird told Billboard.com. "It'd be more like our version of alternative, so it wouldn't necessarily be like heavy and guitar-driven. It would be left field and not necessarily pop."

There's no timetable to start work on the concept, and it doesn't yet have a name because the pair can't agree on one.

Furtado has her hands full at the moment, anyway. Current single "All Good Things (Come To An End)" will be followed by "In God's Hands," and there may be a couple more after that. Loose has already been certified gold or platinum in 28 countries, but apparently the singer and her label want to exploit it for all it's worth.

"I think the album is good and I want people to hear as much of it as possible before I go away again," Furtado said.

Not counting the Timbaland rock project, Furtado wants her next work to be done in Spanish and Portuguese instead of English. But there's no specific agenda for that either.

Furtado will begin an American tour in Hollywood, Fla. on May 30.
