Twelve Acts Cover Smashing Pumpkins On MySpace On May 14

A dozen acts — including Panic! At The Disco, The Deftones and The Bravery — will post their interpretations of Smashing Pumpkins songs on their respective MySpace pages on May 14.
The covers will be compiled on a CD by MySpace Records and given away with the July issue of Spin magazine. It's not yet known if the record will eventually be released commercially.
This isn't the first Billy Corgan salute. Eleven hardcore and punk bands paid tribute to the Pumpkins on 2006's The Killer In You compilation.
The reformed Pumpkins will release their Zeitgeist album on July 7. They'll perform at Montreal's Osheaga Music And Arts Festival on Sept. 8 and Toronto's Virgin Festival the following day.
