Sigur Ros Go Into Overdrive With CDs, DVDs And Book

Sigur Ros teased fans a bit on April Fool's Day by announcing that they needed artwork featuring elves and gnomes for an orchestral work called "Odin's Raven Magic." It was a joke — at the time.
However, according to the Icelandic band's website, they're definitely serious about completing and releasing a variety of projects this year.
Sigur Ros plan to release Hlemmur in a DVD/CD package in July. The band recorded the soundtrack for the 2002 documentary that revolves around the lives of poor men spending most of their spare time around Hlemmur, the main bus station in Iceland's capital, Reykjavik. The release will include the documentary and the 19-song soundtrack, which was sold at the band's European and North American tour stops in 2003.
The ethereal group will release a new EP in August that will contain a new version of "Von" as well as a new live video. Other songs will include "Salka," "Lagio I Gaer" and "Rokklagio."
The EP will precede a new live DVD that's set for October. The as-yet untitled DVD will show the band on the road during their tour of Iceland last summer. They played eight shows across Iceland in late July and early August, including morning and evening concerts on Aug. 3.
A full-length acoustic album is planned for October. It's unknown if the follow-up to 2005's Takk will be comprised of entirely new material or acoustic renditions of previously released songs.
Sigur Ros will release Odin's Raven Magic, featuring the complete orchestral piece of the same name, as a DVD/CD package in January.
In A Frozen Sea — A Year With Sigur Ros will be published on June 1. The book was written by Jeff Anderson and contains exclusive photographs from the band's Icelandic tour last summer. It will also be included as part of a limited edition vinyl package featuring three of the band's 12-inch LPs.
