Pipettes' Forthcoming EP Will Feature Familiar Cover For Chart Readers

Polka-dotted pop trio The Pipettes will introduce themselves to North American record buyers with the June 5 release of their Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me EP, which has a major Chart connection.

Photographer Matt Barnes captured Riot Becki, Gwenno and Rosay for a Stylin' photo shoot for the May issue of the magazine while they were in Toronto in March, and the British lasses liked his work so much that they've chosen one of his photos for the EP cover. Chart writer Phil Villeneuve, who was interviewing the group during the shoot, did double duty and dressed as a chauffeur. He's featured on the cover awkwardly balancing a number of boxes belonging to the shopaholic singers.

Interscope/Cherry Tree will first release the four-track EP, featuring two songs from The Pipettes' We Are The Pipettes full-length debut and two non-album cuts, before issuing the LP on Aug. 28. The album was released in the U.K. by Memphis Industries last July.

The Pipettes created quite a buzz with their effervescent performances and Shangri-Las-meet-The Go! Team sound at last month's South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. They'll launch a North American tour at Toronto's Lee's Palace on June 1. A June 15 gig at Vancouver's Plaza Club is the only other scheduled Canadian date.
