Damon Albarn Plans To Stop Monkeying Around After Making Film

Gorillaz

Band creator extraordinaire Damon Albarn is looking to maximize his Gorillaz profits with a final installment of the cartoon band's schtick. But it won't be a third album.

"We're trying to make a film next, starting in September hopefully," Albarn said in an interview with BBC Radio 2. "It will be a film score. There won't be another pop record."

Rumours have been circulating for a while about the possibility of a Gorillaz film, but other projects have taken Albarn and Tank Girl creator Jamie Hewlett's focus away from it until recently. There's a good chance that director and former Monty Python artist Terry Gilliam will be involved with the project.

The demise of Gorillaz fuels more speculation about a possible Blur reunion. Albarn has also been playing in support of the recently released album by his latest band, The Good, The Bad & The Queen.

Gorillaz released their self-titled debut in 2001 and followed it with Demon Days in 2005. Blur haven't been heard from since 2003's Think Tank.
