Spider-Man Arriving On Stage, Screen And CD

U2

As diehard Spider-Man film fans eagerly await for the new installment of the series to premiere on May 4, they'll also have a Broadway musical to look forward to.

Playbill.com reports that Tony Award winner Julie Taymor (The Lion King) will direct the production and write it with Glen Berger. U2's Bono and The Edge will provide music and lyrics, with musical supervision by Teese Gohl.

Producers will cast for the roles of teen superhero Peter Parker, his sweetheart Mary Jane Watson, spider-woman Arachne, scientist Norman Osborne (and his Green Goblin alter-ego) and Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. A chorus section of three teenage boys and one girl are also being scouted to fill the role of "geeks who meet to ritualistically retell the greatest Spider-Man stories."

The Spider-Man 3 Motion Picture Soundtrack will arrive in stores and at online retailers via Record Collection three days before the movie hits theatres. It features a plethora of rock bands — including The Killers, Black Mountain, Jet and Wolfmother — performing new and original songs. The disc also includes Chubby Checker's "The Twist" and thespians Jason Schwartzman and Kirsten Dunst teaming up on "Summer Day." The compilation was produced by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Primal Scream).

Snow Patrol's "Signal Fire" opens the 15-track CD and is the first single.
