Search Is On For DMX After Two Missed Court Appearances

DMX outdid himself on Wednesday. The rapper missed not one, but two separate court appearances.

Bench warrants for the arrest of DMX (real name Earl Simmons) have been issued, and even his lawyer doesn't know where the wayward artist is. The 36-year-old was in Arizona on Tuesday, when he was supposed to be addressing driving charges in White Plains, New York. He was given a one-day reprieve, but hadn't returned by the following day, when he was also due in a Yonkers, New York courtroom to deal with another driving violation.

"Why would he be hiding out from a damn traffic infraction?" said DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, in an Associated Press article. "He said he missed a flight. He's always missing flights."

DMX has a long history of doing things in his car (and airplanes and airports) that don't jive with the law, and he previously spent a night in jail for missing court dates.

The White Plains case pertains to him being pulled over last June after police said he was speeding, changing lanes dangerously, driving without a seat belt and using a suspended licence. He was offered a plea bargain to avoid going to court, but turned it down.

DMX was charged with driving with a suspended licence in Yonkers last October.

The artist claimed last October that he was raped by the mother of his son. That ought to make him pretty popular if he ends up spending more time behind bars.
