Neil Young Gets Ultimate Rock Star Treatment With New Tribute Record

Dallas Green, Emily Haines, Finger Eleven, Barenaked Ladies and a number of other Canadian artists will contribute songs to a Neil Young tribute album that should be out by the end of the summer.
Borrowed Tunes II is a joint effort involving Toronto producer Mike Roth's Big Bold Son Music, Universal Music Canada and the Sirius Canada satellite radio company. All sales proceeds from the album will go to two not-for-profit organizations chosen by Young: The Bridge School and Toronto-based Safehaven.
Others lined up to sing their favourite Young songs for the cause are Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida, Hawksley Workman, Ron Sexsmith, The Golden Dogs, Jorane and Dobacaracol.
"I'm excited to pay tribute to Neil Young and his incredible body of work," says Kreviazuk. "Neil's songs have inspired so many Canadian musicians over the years, and the Borrowed Tunes II recording is a wonderful way to honour him."
Barenaked Ladies keyboardist Kevin Hearn says that Young is the one artist that all of his band members "regard as a hero and a musical inspiration."
