The Trews Work On New Album And Not Losing Passports

The Trews are working on material for the follow-up to 2005's Den Of Thieves album, and having a few adventures in the process.
"We've been in the midst of writing a new album, and things are progressing well, we're going for a real straight ahead roots rock thing, so far I'm very pleased with the results," singer/guitarist Colin MacDonald wrote on the band's MySpace page earlier this month. "Anyone whose been at our shows lately have heard a couple of the new tunes, I hope you're digging them, they are really fun to play."
Working titles for some of the new songs include "Fade," "In The Red" and "Hold Me (In Your Arms)."
MacDonald and his guitarist brother John-Angus MacDonald were recently in New York City, but almost ended up missing a gig in Cuba last weekend due to a few problems. In a lengthy post by MacDonald on the band's official site, he wrote that they were doing some guitar and vocal work on new demos at Brooklyn's Boiler Room studio with producer Gus Van Go (Priestess, The Stills). Following a long night of St. Patrick's Day drinking, the siblings called a car service to get back to Manhattan, where they were staying at a friend's place.
However, after leaving the car and getting one more round at another pub, the pair remembered that they had left bags containing their computers, iPods and passports behind. Their belongings never turned up.
Three NYPD officers were brought in to help the duo, who had to file a stolen property report to prove the passports were gone.
"So there we were sitting in the station, filling out a stolen property report, it should have been 'dumb ass absent minded Canadian musician fucking up in New York' report...but...whatever," MacDonald wrote.
The report was filed and they were able to fly back to Canada in time to get the needed paperwork to travel to a contest winners gig in Cuba for a Kingston, Ont. radio station on Saturday.
Here are The Trews' upcoming Canadian dates:
March 30 Hamilton, ON @ Quarters (McMaster University)
April 5 Calgary, AB @ Back Alley
April 13 Dauphin, MB @ Credit Union Centre
April 27 Cornwall, ON @ The Murphy Inn
