Idle Sons Are No More, But Still Contenders For Juno Award

Fans of Burlington, Ont. rock band Idle Sons will have to cherish last year's Sixteen Seasons album for a long time, as the group are no more.
"After 13 years, thousands of miles and a million great experiences, Idle Sons are no more," the band wrote earlier this month on their website. "We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us along the way, and more importantly we would like to thank all the people who supported our band by coming to our shows and supporting us.
"Our decision to stop making music was due to creative and personal differences amongst us all, and despite everyone's best efforts it was not to be."
The quartet toured as a support act for Buckcherry earlier this year and, as previously reported, performed at the Canadian men's curling championship in Hamilton on March 2. Somewhat awkwardly, Idle Sons are nominated for a best new group Juno Award along with Evans Blue, Mobile, Jets Overhead and Stabilo. There's no word on if the band will attend the ceremonies in Saskatoon this weekend.
Idle Sons had been writing material for a new album, according to a Feb. 6 post on their site, but apparently were showing signs of problems after guitarist Sean Kelly left the band.
"The life he now desires, and the life of a touring musician are just not congruent," the group wrote. "This news did not come overnight, but we wanted to make sure that at no point during the last little while, did we jeopardize our relationship with our friends and fans."
Kelly was replaced by Brendan Mowat-Smith for the band's remaining dates.
