Red Hot Chili Peppers Want Fans To Make Their New Video

Red Hot Chili Peppers are asking fans to get their creative juices flowing so they can make a video for the Grammy Award-winning band's new "Charlie" single.
Anthony Kiedis and company have partnered with video-sharing website YouTube to launch a contest where fans can create the official promotional clip for the Stadium Arcadium song. The contest winner will also be $5,000 richer and head to Paris, France to see the band perform live on July 6.
"Videos are harder than they look," says Kiedis. "It's very, very rare and beautiful and monumental when someone makes a truly good video. This is an opportunity to have that happen for this song."
The contest closes on April 20 and it's open to budding video directors in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Australia and Sweden.
The Chili Peppers are supposed to be on their way to Japan this week as part of a world tour. But a statement posted on their website on Saturday claims that Kiedis' bronchial pneumonia has him under strict doctor's orders not to fly for 10 days. Since their jam-packed tour has absolutely no room for any rescheduling, it looks like the Japanese shows might be pushed back to the fall.
