Do Make Say Think Hold Off Arcade Fire

In what was supposed to be the crowning of a new king of the top 50 chart, the old regime has held on as Do Make Say Think's You, You're A History In Rust survives at #1 for a second consecutive week and wards off the national assault of Arcade Fire.
The Montreal band's sophomore release, Neon Bible, jumps two places to land at #2. The top two albums each received more than 1,300 points and were separated by just a couple dozen. Remaining at #3 is Apostle Of Hustle's National Anthem Of Nowhere. It's followed at #4 by last week's #2, Julie Doiron's Woke Myself Up. Peter, Bjorn & John's Writer's Block moves up a place to #5, switching places with Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?. Bloc Party's A Weekend In The City returns to the top 10 by jumping five spots to #7. It's followed by The Besnard Lakes' The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse, which rises three spots to #8. Great Lake Swimmers' Ongiara remains at #9, with Deerhoof's Friend Opportunity following suit at #10.
The Chart Sizzler Award goes to Air's Pocket Symphony, which enters the chart at #21. Finishing a strong second among the debut entries is Trans Am's Sex Change at #23. A couple albums competed for third place, with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists' Living With The Living arriving at #29 and just ahead of Paper Bag Records' re-released version of The Acorn's Tin Fist EP at #30. Other notable debuts include You Say Party! We Say Die!'s Lose All Time at #32, Les Breastfeeders' Les Matins De Grand Soirs at #46 and Black Lips' Los Valientes Del Mundo Nuevo at #48.
For the second week running, one of the five specialty charts features a #1 debut. This week it's Secret Mommy's Plays entering the Electronic top 10 at #1. Two other charts featured the runner-up albums from last week moving up a place to #1, as Red1's Beg For Nothing does it on the Hip-Hop chart and Comeback Kid's Broadcasting... does likewise on the Metal/Punk chart. The other two specialty charts have the same #1s as last week, with Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra's Security holding down the fort at #1 on the World/Folk top 10, while the Dig Your Roots: Creative Jazz compilation remains at #1 on the Jazz/Blues chart.
