Toronto trash rockers Maximum RNR are making like literal garbage pickers in order to finance their upcoming European tour.
The band recently announced they're holding a bottle drive. If you live in the greater Toronto area and you've got a heap of empty beer or liquor bottles lying around your place that you can't be bothered to cash in for a refund, the band are willing to come pick them up and use 'em to cover their plane tickets.
The MRNR crew are already off to a good start.
"We've been collecting all the bottles from our rehearsal space," says guitarist Keith Maurik. "There are probably 40 rehearsal rooms in the building, so it's pretty amazing how many bottles and cans we've collected. It's true, band folk are serious drinkers!"
The European tour will be a return-the-favour with Dutch delinquents The Spades, whom Maximum RNR toured across eastern Canada with last year.
Says Maurik, "Our parentals were right! Dreams do come true if you apply yourself. If a buncha reprobates like us can make it to Europe, you know your dreams are just as, if not more, attainable."
Damn, it feels like we're in Boy Scouts again!
The band are encouraging any who wants to rid themselves of their empties to email maximumrnr@hotmail.com.
