Master Wordsmith Avril Lavigne Offers Spelling Tips In New Song

Remember when people made fun of Alanis Morissette for using incorrect examples of irony in her song "Ironic?" Well, here's a perfect example of irony for you: Avril Lavigne criticizes poor spelling in "Everything Back But You," one of the songs on her forthcoming The Best Damn Thing album. This comes from the young woman who spelled the title of her album incorrectly on her MySpace blog in December.
In "Everything Back But You," a girl gets a postcard from a boy who meant to write "Wish you were here," but accidentally omitted a letter and wrote, "Wish you were her."
"You left out the 'e,' you left without me," Lavigne sings in response, "and now you're somewhere out there with a bitch slut psychopath, I hate you."
The Best Damn Thing's first single/video, "Girlfriend," hasn't been earning any raves around the Chart office. And after reading this Lavigne quote from an MTV News interview, we now have a better idea of why it sucks so much.
"I've never had so much fun in the studio. We would order food five times a day and totally pig out. We'd be drinking. I wrote 'Girlfriend' when I was drunk."
The Best Damn Thing will arrive in stores on April 17.
