Pete Yorn Loves Playing In Sloan

Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn has had songs featured in Dawson's Creek, Spider-Man and Me, Myself And Irene. He's toured around the world with the likes of Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Weezer. But Yorn says that none of that can top touring with R.E.M.
"They were just heroes of mine to begin with. We got to hang out, and I watched their set every night. It was really cool."
Still, Yorn's voice changes from a calm and collected tone to that of pure excitement and passion when the conversation turns to Sloan.
"I love Sloan," Yorn says. "I'm a huge fan.
"Seeing them play years ago, probably on the One Chord To Another tour, I think it borderline made me want to just quit playing music, they were so good."
Sloan are also responsible for one of Yorn's most memorable moments on the road.
"I was actually lucky enough to get them to come out on tour with me in the States a few years ago, which was pretty cool. I got to play 'The Good In Everyone' on drums with them, which was really fun."
The New Jersey native was even somewhat humbled by Sloan's talents.
"I always thought it was wrong that they were opening for me because they were just heroes of mine, and I didn't like the idea of that. But I was just happy to be able to hang out with them."
Yorn plays Toronto's Phoenix on March 11.
