Unprecedented Guns N' Roses News: Chinese Democracy Delayed

Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose

After cancelling tour dates in January to finally complete their long-awaited album, Guns N' Roses have decided that March 6 is no longer the release date for Chinese Democracy.

But don't worry, the band are still working on the record and they're almost finished. No, for real this time.

"The good news is that all of the recording for the album has been completed," road manager Del James wrote on the band's website on Thursday. "Drummer Frank Ferrer and guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal integrated themselves into the recordings seamlessly and will have their presence felt."

There is no official release date, as the band is currently mixing, but after some delays and scheduling difficulties, things appear to be moving along." GN'R singer Axl Rose said in mid-December that a tentative release date of March 6 had been nailed down. But even then he made it clear that the date could change.

"We would like to assure the fans that everything in our power will be done to meet this date," he wrote in a lengthy post. "If we are delayed for unseen reasons, you will also be notified as soon as possible in regard to a new date, and the album will be released as shortly thereafter as is possible."

The band had a relatively smooth North American tour last year that included a number of Canadian cities. The set list featured some of the songs from the upcoming album, including "The Blues" and "Madagascar."

The album will be the band's first of original material since Use Your Illusions I and II were released in 1991. They released a covers album titled The Spaghetti Incident? in 1993.
