The Acorn Sign With Paper Bag

Ottawa-bred band The Acorn are stepping up their game with a new record label, release and tour.
Rolf Klausener, Jeff Debutte, Keiko Devaux, Howie Tsui and T. Jeffrey Malecki have joined Toronto-based Paper Bag's roster and are revving up for the March 20 release of their Tin Fist EP. The band have been selling Tin Fist on their own and in a couple of Ottawa record stores since December. The six-song disc is a follow-up to 2005's Blankets EP, which was released through Kelp Records. It was primarily recorded in Ottawa's Little Bullhorn studio, which has previously hosted Howie Gelb, Wooden Stars, Julie Doiron and Kathleen Edwards. The band are recording their long-awaited full-length debut, which is expected to hit store shelves in the fall. In the meantime, they'll hit the road in March for a nationwide tour promoting Tin Fist.
