Just like The Police, the Ozzy Osbourne-less Black Sabbath reunion known as Heaven And Hell will begin their world tour in Vancouver.
Singer Ronnie James Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Vinny Appice will tour together for the first time in 15 years. The diminutive Dio replaced Osbourne as Sabbath's frontman in 1979 before leaving in 1982 to lead his own band, but he returned in 1991 and lasted until 1993. The first incarnation of the band with Dio recorded the Heaven And Hell album in 1980, so they've adopted it as their new band name.
Megadeth and Down (featuring Pantera's Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown and Corrosion Of Conformity's Pepper Keenan) will open all of the shows.
A Rhino compilation titled Black Sabbath: The Dio Years will be released on April 3 to coincide with the tour. It will include three new studio tracks ("The Devil Cried," "Shadow Of The Wind" and "Ear In The Wall") as well as catalogue material.
