Broken Social Scene And Wolf Parade Win PLUG Awards

While Canadian nominees were virtually shut out at Sunday's Grammy Awards, they fared better at a more cutting-edge awards show the night before.
Broken Social Scene were named best live act and Wolf Parade's "I'll Believe In Anything" was chosen as the top music video at the PLUG Independent Music Awards, which were hosted by David Cross at New York City's Irving Plaza on Saturday night. Tokyo Police Club, Stephen Malkmus, Deerhoof, El-P and new MapleMusic Recordings signing Silversun Pickups performed on the show.
Band Of Horses were the big winner of the evening, taking three awards. J Dilla, who passed away exactly one year earlier, was the only other multiple winner.
In addition to the Canadian winners, Tokyo Police Club, Islands, Emily Haines, Amy Millan, Chad VanGaalen, Sunset Rubdown, Cadence Weapon, Fucked Up, Junior Boys and MSTRKRFT had also been nominated for awards.
