Toronto instrumental group Do Make Say Think will launch a North American tour this month to coincide with the release of their fifth studio album.
You, You're A History In Rust picks up where 2003's Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn left off, with acoustic guitars as the focal point and surrounded by drums, percussion, horns and electric guitars. Ohad Benchetrit (guitar, horns, keyboards), Dave Mitchell (drums), James Payment (drums), Justin Small (guitar, keyboards) and Charles Spearin (guitar, bass, horns, keyboards) are the core members of the group, but a slew of guests also lent a hand. Among the contributors were violinist Julie Penner, vibe player Jason Tait, Great Lake Swimmers singer Tony Dekker, saw player Jimmy Anderson and Akron/Family.
The eight-song album was recorded by the band in remote locations around Ontario over the past two years, including a cottage, a barn, a rehearsal space and Toronto's Th' Schvitz studio, where the disc was also mixed and mastered by Benchetrit, Small and Spearin.
You, You're A History In Rust comes out in Europe this week, while Montreal's Constellation Records will make it available domestically on both CD and 180-gram vinyl on Feb. 27.
