Joel Plaskett Emergency To Rock Ashtrays This Spring

Joel Plaskett Emergency's new Ashtray Rock album will arrive this spring via MapleMusic. The former Thrush Hermit frontman laid down vocals for the record in late December at Toronto's Phase One Studios. It was produced by former Big Sugar singer/guitarist and current Grady member Gordie Johnson and engineered by Mark Renner.
"Before I digress, I just want to make it perfectly clear that the aforementioned Ashtray Rock is an actual place, as opposed to some other mental image you might be conjuring up," Plaskett says on his website.
The album follows Plaskett's 2005 solo album, La De Da, and last year's Make A Little Noise: Live At The Marquee DVD, which featured live performances, music videos and a bonus disc featuring three songs, including "A Million Dollars."
Plaskett will perform with Symphony Nova Scotia as part of a radio broadcast on Saturday. He'll also perform at the CBC nationally televised East Coast Music Awards on Feb. 18 in Halifax. The Emergency will tour Australia in March in support of an Australian compilation from Code One Records titled Make A Little Noise. The package includes the DVD as well as 15 of Plaskett's best songs, including "Work Out Fine," "Down At The Khyber," "True Patriot Love" and "Come On Teacher."
