New Bjork Album Likely To Bloom In Spring

Bjork is working on her new album, and it could be released as soon as the late spring.

In a post on the chanteuse's official website, correspondent Meester Fly confirmed that the artist has been working in different locations around the globe on a new album that includes collaborations with a suitably eclectic — Bjorkian, if you will — group of artists and producers.

Most notably, hip-hop producer Timbaland (Nelly Furtado, Jay-Z) has worked on two tracks. Also said to be in cahoots with the Icelandic artist on the as-yet-untitled Atlantic album are Antony Hegarty of Antony And The Johnsons, kora player Toumani Diabate, Konono No. 1 on thumb piano, Lightning Bolt drummer Brian Chippendale, drummer Chris Corsano and previous Bjork collaborators Mark Bell and Sjon.

"This record is a Bjork production par excellence," Meester Fly reports. "No stone left unturned to seek out the perfect pitch."

This will be the former Sugarcubes frontwoman's first album since 2004's Medulla, a vocal-based effort that featured collaborations with human beatbox Rahzel, Robert Wyatt and Mike Patton, among others.

Meester Fly's post confirmed that Bjork is finalizing a band to tour in support of the new album, but no details as to when or where were given.
