Lady Sovereign's Diet Doesn't Include Jelly Donuts

Zach Slow — the guy who raised $10,000 U.S. to take Lady Sovereign on a dream date, but was dissed by the U.K. grime artist afterward — got some revenge on Monday night.
Slow was accompanied on his Lady Sov adventure last June by a rapper friend who calls himself Jelly Donut, who posts on his MySpace blog that she wasn't as much fun as he'd hoped and that he was angered by her criticism.
"She was having a blast until half-way through the night when lil' SOV got too wasted and all pouty. It was as if a clown showed up to her birthday when she really wanted a pony... Zach's stunt had just earned her a TON of publicity and we just wanted to have a crazy night. I guess we hadn't counted on her being a cranky twat."
Angered by Sovereign's disrespect, Jelly Donut elected to try and exact revenge by taking her on — and beating her — in a rap battle. So Slow and about 70 of his friends got tickets to Sov's Jan. 8 concert at San Francisco's Mezzanine club. Among them was JD, adorned in a jelly donut costume covered in "I Love SOV" signs.
After her fourth song, all of the accomplices started a chant of "Battle Jelly Donut!" and threw photos of him on to the stage. That apparently unnerved her so much that she flubbed her lyrics and started hurling insults and a vodka and Red Bull that landed on the Donut. He also claims that she spit at him and missed his face by an inch.
"Now, she had a good vantage point from which to launch the loog, but her accuracy was still pretty astonishing. It may have, in fact, been the most impressive achievement of her entire tour."
Donut says that Sov continued to turn down his challenge and then called security, who pulled him out of the club amidst a choir of boos and more "Battle Jelly Donut!" chants. He was joined by friends and other audience members after the show, and they gathered outside the artist's tour bus waiting for her as Jelly Donut busted her chops with some rhymes. Police were called, and JD and his posse left peacefully to avoid arrest before any throw-down could occur.
But the Donut still wants to go toe-to-toe with his nemesis, according to his post.
"If you're reading this SOB, the beef is on the grill. You spat on the wrong pastry. If you ever get the eggs enough to have that battle, I'm waiting. Otherwise, you never know where the jelly might bubble up."
Meanwhile, Sov has benefitted from the misfortune of Islands. As reported earlier, the Montreal band were scheduled to perform on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson this week. But they didn't have the proper work visas and their appearance was scrapped. Lady Sovereign will play on the show instead.
