"Four Winds" Blowing Bright Eyes EP And Album Into Sight

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst

Bright Eyes' prolific Conor Oberst will release a six-song EP in March and a full-length the following month, and a tour in support of them is expected to be announced shortly.

Oberst's Saddle Creek label will release the Four Winds EP on March 6. Its title track will be the first single of the Cassadaga LP, and the disc will also feature five exclusive B-sides recorded last year. The label describes Four Winds as having "a wandering country charm and all of the story-telling seductiveness of earlier work."

Oberst and Bright Eyes core members Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott spent much of 2006 working on the follow-up to 2005's two simultaneous releases, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash In A Digital Urn. Recording was done in New York City, Portland, Oregon and Lincoln, Nebraska. Gillian Welch and Sleater-Kinney's Janet Weiss contributed to the album.

Bright Eyes toured Canada last June and released Noise Floor — a collection of singles, unreleased tracks, collaborations, covers and rarities recorded between 1998 and 2005 — in October.

Here are the songs on the Four Winds EP:
"Four Winds"
"Reinvent The Wheel"
"Smoke Without Fire"
"Stray Dog Freedom"
"Cartoon Blues"
"Tourist Trap"
