Diana Krall And Elvis Costello Produce Offspring

Diana Krall

They're still among the weirdest couples in the history of time, but that didn't stop Canadian jazz crooner Diana Krall from having Elvis Costello's brand new twin boys.

The pair of boys, named Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James, were born Wednesday in New York, where Krall and Costello reside.

"We're ecstatic!" the couple exclaimed in a statement that came out Friday. "Mother and sons are doing splendidly."

In a September interview with People magazine, Krall said that twins run in her family.

Costello, 52, has had a very busy year that included a collaborative effort with Allen Toussaint, frequent touring and a surreal cameo in Talladega Nights, Will Ferrell's NASCAR comedy.

Krall, 42, is an officer of the Order Of Canada whose most recent album was September's From This Moment On. She's won more Junos than she knows what to do with. Perhaps she'll give them to her sons as toys. But those awards are often pointy and made of glass, so maybe not.

Costello and Krall were married at Elton John's Surrey, U.K. mansion in December 2003.
