I'll tell you what the world needs more of: indoor winter festivals with good music. Organizers of the Brampton Indie Arts Festival are savvy to this fact, and their 2007 edition, which has been curated by the always-weird Friendly Rich, features a lineup as diverse and wonderfully weird as ever. It takes place from Feb. 14-17.

In addition to performances from the likes of Final Fantasy, The Meligrove Band, Uncut, The Sour Keys and The Bicycles, there'll be film presentations (go to the website to see how to contribute) and a Q&A with Mark Mothersbaugh. Who's that, you query? Oh, he's only the composer of the scores for all of Wes Anderson's films. That's so cool, it's almost enough to get me to go to Brampton, which for those who don't know, is located near Toronto. Almost.

(I mean, have you ever been to Brampton? It's as close to a black hole on Earth you'll ever see. It's right up there with Napanee, Ontario, the smallest city in Canada that you can actually get lost in.)
