Better Late Than Never For New Mos Def Album

Mos Def's Tru3 Magic will arrive three months after it was first scheduled to, but still in time for last-minute Christmas shoppers.

Geffen will release the conscious hip-hop artist's third solo album on Dec. 19 without "Boogie Man," a track that came out in August and was expected to be on the LP. The album will feature production by Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and Rich Harrison, among others.

Mos Def made his solo debut in 1999 with Black On Both Sides and followed it up two years ago with The New Danger. His lack of output can probably be attributed somewhat to his work as an actor. He's appeared in a number of television shows and movies over the years and made a cameo alongside Elvis Costello in the summer hit, Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby. He'll appear in The Brazilian Job, the sequel to 2003's The Italian Job, and four other films slated for release over the next year or so.

The 32-year-old Brooklyn, New York-based rapper was arrested for disorderly conduct outside the MTV Video Music Awards in September after he pulled up in front of New York City's Radio City Music Hall on a flatbed truck and performed another non-album cut titled "Katrina Clap" that criticizes the U.S. government's handling of the aftermath of 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
