Vancouver industrial-electro groundbreakers Skinny Puppy will mark the 25th anniversary of their formation by releasing Mythmaker in the U.K. on Jan. 29.
Synthetic Symphony will issue the group's second album since principals Nivek Ogre (vocals) and Cevin Key (synthesizers, electronics, percussion) reunited earlier this decade to create The Greater Wrong Of The Right. That 2004 album included guest contributions from members of Tool, Collide and Static-X.
Ogre and Key worked with Mark Walk (KMFDM) and others on the 10-track Mythmaker, which features some heavy social and political commentary and criticism of the George Bush administration.
Skinny Puppy was one of the first acts to put the fledgling Nettwerk label on the musical map in its early days. Keyboardist Dwayne Goettel joined the band in 1986 and was an integral part of the group until 1995, when he died of a heroin overdose. Skinny Puppy have also been connected to numerous side and solo projects, including Pigface, Tear Garden, Hilt, W.E.L.T., Download and Puppy Gristle.
Here are the songs on Mythmaker:
"Magnifishit”
“DaL”
“HaZe”
“Pedafly”
“JaHer”
“PolitikiL”
“LestiduZ”
“PasturN”
“Ambiantz”
“UgLi"
