Death Metal's Obituary On Your DVD Player

Florida death metal band Obituary's cryogenic obsession continues with their first live DVD, Frozen Alive.
The five-piece band, which originally formed as Xecutioner in the mid-'80s, disbanded in 1997 before reforming in 2003 and releasing their Frozen In Time comeback album last year. The group have released seven albums on Roadrunner since 1989 and have been a major influence on the sunshine state's death metal scene, which has also spawned Morbid Angel, Deicide and Cannibal Corpse, among others.
Obituary currently include John Tardy (vocals), Allen West (lead guitar), Trevor Peres (rhythm guitar), Frank Watkins (bass) and Donald Tardy (drums), who previously worked as Andrew W.K.'s tour drummer. West has also been a member of metal bands Six Feet Under and Lowbrow.
The DVD captures the band performing new and old songs live in Poland. It also includes the videos for "Insane" and "On The Floor," a live drum solo filmed in Romania, band member interviews, and documentaries on the making of the "Insane" video, the making of the Frozen In Time album and what went on backstage in Poland.
For true Obituary fans who want even more, a limited-edition version featuring an 80-minute bonus CD will also be available. If this doesn't make death metal fans feel that they can die happy, nothing will. MVD Visual will have both versions in stores on Jan. 16.
