Hilary Duff Drops Joel Madden

An allegedly crazed stalker couldn't come between teen star Hilary Duff and pop-punker Joel Madden, but the difference in their ages apparently has.

"I can confirm they are split, but other than that, we do not wish to talk about Joel's personal life," a spokesperson for the Good Charlotte singer told E! News.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Madden was talking openly about the break-up while DJing at the city's Enclave nightclub last week, and told clubbers that it was largely due to the fact that he's 27 and Duff is only 19.

Madden reportedly said that he was dumped by Duff, who he's been seeing for more than two years. The couple only revealed their relationship last year, however, after Duff turned 18.

An apparently lovestruck Madden told People last month that he'd found the perfect person in Duff.

"She's confident, she accepts me for my imperfections, and she is good to me," he said. "I never have to question if she's going to be there, because I know she will be."

Madden produced three songs on Duff's 2005 hits collection, Most Wanted.

Duff's fourth album is expected in February. The multi-talented teen has also starred in the movies Material Girls, The Perfect Man, Raise Your Voice, A Cinderella Story, Agent Cody Banks and The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Good Charlotte's fourth album, Good Morning Revival, is slated for a March 20 release.
