Celebrate New Year's Eve With The Grateful Dead

 The Grateful Dead

Calling all Deadheads: Put a new bong on your Christmas list. It's going to come in handy when you listen to a three-CD set coming from the Grateful Dead on Jan. 23.

Rhino will release Live At The Cow Palace, a 22-song performance recorded at the famed San Francisco arena on New Year's Eve, 1976. But fans who pre-order the album on the Dead website will also receive a bonus CD titled Spirit Of '76, which features more than an hour of previously unreleased music from the band made during the U.S. bicentennial year. Live At The Cow Palace can also be ordered in combination packages with related calendars and T-shirts.

In addition to Dead originals, including a 40-minute jam on "Sugar Magnolia," the concert recording features covers of Chuck Berry's "Promised Land" and Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried."

If you'd rather stay in and get baked instead of going out and partying on New Year's Eve, Live At The Cow Palace will be streamed on the band's site on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
