Jackson Wins Two World Music Awards And Gets Booed For Not Singing "Thriller"

While Michael Jackson received two milestone honours at the World Music Awards in London, England on Wednesday night, his promised performance never came to be.
The former "king of pop" received a Diamond Award for selling more than 100 million albums, and Thriller was recognized as the best-selling album of all time. Jackson was expected to sing that album's title track, but he said that was a misunderstanding. Young American R&B artist Chris Brown performed "Thriller" instead.
Jackson joined a gospel choir to sing a few lines from the charity single "We Are The World," but he struggled with the high notes and received a number of boos from people in attendance at Earls Court arena. It was the first time that the 48 year old sang in London in nine years, and marked his first time singing in public since he was acquitted of sex molestation charges last year.
Enya, Faithless, Katie Melua and Nelly Furtado also performed, and the Canadian singer was named best pop/rock artist for her single, "Maneater." Furtado wasn't the only Canuck to be recognized, as Nickelback took the best rock group title.
Here are the other main winners from the World Music Awards:
Best Pop Artist: Madonna — "Hung Up"
World's Best R&B Artist: Beyonce — "Deja Vu"
World's Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist: Kanye West — "Touch The Sky"
World's Best Latin Artist: Shakira — "Hips Don't Lie"
World's Best DJ: Bob Sinclair — "World Hold On"
World's Best New Artist: James Blunt
