Loose Ends: Green Day Reissues, Young Galaxy Signing And Motorhead's Soccer Team

Reprise will reissue Green Day's first two albums, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk!, on Dec. 19. The two discs were first released on Lookout! in 1991 and '92 respectively, and the indie label reissued them two years ago. The debut will be augmented with 20 minutes of live performances from 1990 and '91, a 1991 radio interview, handwritten lyrics by Billy Joe Armstrong and show flyers. There will be no bonus material on Kerplunk!. Green Day can be heard on the new "The Saints Are Coming" single they recorded with U2, and they've started work on the follow-up to 2004's American Idiot.

Montreal duo Young Galaxy have signed with Toronto's Arts & Crafts, which will release their new album in the spring. Young Galaxy principals Stephen Ramsay and Catherine McCandless recorded the LP at Montreal's Breakglass Studio with Jace Lasek. Pat Sayers, Stephen Kamp and Susan Beckett will augment Young Galaxy when they open for The Dears for eight American shows starting on Nov. 28.

There's no English soccer team comprised of pre-10-year-olds more intimidating than a side from North Hykeham who've landed a sponsorship deal with metal monsters Motorhead. The team's jerseys feature the band's "Snaggletooth" skull logo, and they take the pitch to the sound of "Ace Of Spades." Team manager Gary Weight is friends with Motorhead main man Lemmy Kilmister, and the boys will have a team photo taken with the veteran group before a show in Nottingham on Sunday.
